So if I've learned anything about Chap in the few years I've known you, it's been that you are obsessed with vinyl, toys, pugs, and Star-Wars. BUT I've always loved Return of The Jedi, ever since I saw the originals as a young kid. I can't get over the bad acting of the new movies and the digitally enhanced remakes of the old movies were a fucking joke. A New Hope is cool because you're introduced to the story and the characters, the Death Star is destroyed and it looks like the rebels actually have a chance to do something good in the galaxy. ROTJ remains my all time fav.
That being said, WHY EMPIRE!? That's the movie where the incestual overtones between Luke and Leia come to fruition for christ sake! Sell me on it in 150 words or less. GO!

I can tackle this one...
Empire is the best of the trilogy because it's the darkest one. It's the one where we lose hope for good guys. It's more grounded in the reality of which the more powerful force (The Empire) wins and beats the less-powerful underdogs (The Rebels). It's more akin to our day-to-day reality that those w/ power and means will always come out on top. People can relate to that.
Let's set aside the incestual overtones for a minute...Empire gives a glimpse of the impetus of the Dark Side...what is driving Darth and subsequentally the Emperor himself in their attempt to wipe out the Rebels and tighten their grip on the galaxy(?).
The transition of the trilogy kinda works something like this for me:
ANH = Empire is bad and the Rebels are the good guys and good will prevail. Yay! Empire = We're the Empire...you've messed with the wrong peeps. ROTJ = Good will always prevail and bad people who did bad things can always redeem themselves
The bottom line is that a majority of people...in my opinion...can relate better to the negative aspect of a movie regardless of genre...b/c of the more-than-likely negative situation of reality.
Am I making an sense?...I hope sop b/c I've had some beers in me as I type this...

I'm going to have to think about this. Its really a toss up between empire and jedi for me. Jedi is bad ass I must admit, but cloud city, boba fett? Ugh its so hard.
and I do like the new movies. Not gonna lie.
I'll elaborate later.
